I don't really care about the catalog features, or advanced editing. I've been using both on and off for 10 years now. I tried to like C1 but the workflow never made sense to me and the cataloging is way below the level of LR. lightroom is god awful slow on my old pc.īig long-time Lightroom fan here. will probably wait till i get a new pc before i decide what to do. I liked the output of C1 over Lightroom but disliked the user interface of c1. i found out 11 was no longer available and i had to upgrade to 12 for a cost of $150. I had C1 pro 11 on my pc and upgraded it to Win 10 after having 7 for a long time. I actually far prefer the C1 interface functionally, due to customization (even multiple definable workspaces), and non-modality, but interfaces are very much a personal preference kind of thing.įor you people who have C1 are you using the subscription version or perpetual license? But if you need an older version in the future, it should be there. You can find old versions at including version 11, but I guess you have already upgraded to 12 anyway. There are 10% discount codes all over the internet, and PhaseOne periodically discounts it for upgrades. I have the Sony version, and don't think I've ever paid more than about $100 for the usually annual major version update. I have perpetual licensing, I prefer it that way. But it’s slower to use than Lightroom, and way slower to process than both Lightroom and capture one, but to my eyes, it’s the easiest to get nice colors out from Sony. The defaults in Lightroom for Sony are pretty bad, but with my profile I’m liking my results better than what I get with CO, and I find the use of presets in Lightroom more enjoyable, a more smooth experience in this regard, and I have tons of presets (created by myself or downloaded).īut for image quality in my opinion, the best for Sony files is dxo photolab. Vivid - Bright, colorful, saturated, & high dynamic range. For me, there’s something in the color rendering in Capture one that I don’t really like, and I feel that, while the highlight recovery is quite good, the shadow recovery feels a bit unnatural most of the time.Īlso, when trying to do some split toning, I feel Lightroom results more natural, even if they’re less sophisticated.Underground - Deep blacks, low vibrancy, high saturation & desaturated green, yellows, & orange color ranges.Thriller - Punchy, intense, some muted colors, desaturated greens, high clarity, slight fade, & cool tones.Street - Increased dynamic range with deep blacks, nice contrast, muted greens, & slight cool color tone in the shadows.Romance – Soft & warm red/pink toning with intense red saturation, slight cool cast in highlights, & slight grain.Indie – Muted & faded with high clarity, deep shadows, slight grain, & a warm/cold color cast.Hollywood – Brightened with high vibrancy & bright mid-tones.Historic – Strong fading, muting, saturated reds & magentas, warm highlights & mid-tones.Film – Muted & muddy colors dark shadows, slight fade, low contrast, & high clarity.Drama - High contrast & clarity, bright & bold, deep shadows, & light blue/green split tone.Documentary – Cool & deep, slightly faded shadows.
